Through the end of August, there are fantastic deals to be had at some of the most luxurious spas during Miami Spa Month. Miami Spa Month participants provide specific spa services at three pricing points: $109, $139, and $199.

The season-opening, award-winning exhibition by artist Sean Kenney arrives at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. The New York-based artist uses the popular toy to illustrate animal habitats and how everything in nature is interconnected.

Miami Beach Short-Term Rentals Make a Comeback

About a month ago, in reaction to coronavirus, Miami Beach voted to bans short-term rentals in hotels and condominiums. Now the city relaxing the restrictions after the decrease in positive cases in South Florida. This past weekend, the resumption of short term rentals began.

On June 1st, hotels in Miami-Dade County were once again allowed to open their doors, followed closely by short-term rentals. Nonetheless, restrictions that remained in place until earlier this month were enforced last month. In contrast to the rest of the county, Miami Beach was particularly aggressive, choosing to shut down all of its short-term and holiday rentals in mid-July.

It is worth noting that in apartment buildings, these holidays and short term rentals are still not permitted. The day and night occupancy of condos and hotels is relegated to a pair of persons per bedroom, plus two additional persons per unit, meaning a maximum of four people. For traveling families, this limit is upped to six people.

When a hotel or condo is found in breach of occupancy limits, Miami Beach has suggested that they may risk losing their business tax refund for as long as the emergency order remains in effect.

Do Your Hair, Have a Drink at The Blind Barber

When is the last time you visited The Nautilus by Arlo Hotel in Miami Beach? If it’s been a while, the hotel is probably not going to look the way you remember it. The city’s instantly recognizable Art Deco property recently received a considerable facelift, and the results appear to be earning it lots of praise.

A major highlight of The Nautilus by Arlo Hotel’s makeover is the small, trendy cocktail lounge nestled in the lobby called The Blind Barber. The name originated in New York where the first Blind Barber opened its door in the city’s East Village nine years ago. The Blind Barber can also be found in Los Angeles and Chicago.

True to its name, The Blind Barber functions as a classic barbershop and salon during the day but then transforms into a stylish bar when night falls. You can visit during the day, get your hair done for a night on the town and then return in the evening through the back doors of the shops for drinks and a fun time. Drink options include handcrafted cocktails which you can sip as you enjoy bites like grilled cheese sandwiches and bop your head to the live music.

The Blind Barber’s décor includes the use of luxuriant green and pink velvet seats, tables in terrazzo, walls in copper, plus a sizable projection wall used for screening films or sports games. The hours are from 10 am to 7 pm while the cocktail lounge opens at 5 pm. Both are open daily.

A New Miami Beach Hotel Is Soon to Open

Miami Beach will soon be receiving another taste of South America when the Lennox Hotel Miami Beach makes its stylish debut this summer on Collins Avenue. A project by the similarly named Argentinian hotel group Lennox Hotels, the building, will occupy the home of the Peter Miller Hotel, a building found in the Historic District.

In keeping with Miami Beach’s Art Deco flair, the Lennox Hotel will boast a classic architecture yet still modern architecture. Inside of the building there will be over 100 guest rooms, thirteen of which will boast a feature commonly found in upscale luxury condos: wraparound balconies. Each of these rooms features interior design courtesy of designer, architect, and Argentinian Juan Ciavarell, who is also responsible for curating the artwork.

A major feature of the Lennox Hotel will be its swimming pool located inside the courtyard designed in a Mediterranean style. Future guests will be able to sunbathe and there will also be a cocktail bar located by the poolside for some fun and great drinks.

The Lennox Hotel Miami Beach is expected to open next month and is only one of the many projects happening in the barrier island and beyond. Are you excited to spend a few nights at this upcoming hotel?

Trader Joe’s Is Coming Soon

It’s been a long time coming, but Trader Joe’s is getting ready to show Miami Beach residents what all of the brouhaha is about. Announced a pair of years ago, the store was expected to open last year, but that date has since changed. Though no definitive date has been given, significant progress has been made and it looks like the much-beloved tropical grocer will open its doors sooner rather than later.

When it opens, Trader Joe’s will be located in a five-story building intended for mixed-use called 17 West which will have to close to 30,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space. Trader Joe’s will comprise over 11,000 square feet.

The Miami Beach iteration of Trader Joe’s will be the second to debut in Miami-Dade County, the first one being in Pinecrest which opened in 2013. There is also a pair of Trader Joe’s in Davie and Pembroke Pines. The grocer has earned a fiercely loyal following for its prices, many free samples, complimentary coffee, and its ultra-flexible return policy which allows customers to return any item regardless of the reason, even if the item has already been opened.
