Happy Hour with a View

It may only be the middle of the week but many of us work hard to make ends meet, and we all deserve some time to just kick back and relax. If you’re the type of person who likes to unwind at a happy hour, these suggestions may do just the trick the next time you’re in the mood to try a new spot with some nice views.

We’ll begin with Juvia on Lincoln Road. This place has earned itself quite the following and it’s even been mentioned in the New York Times as well as USA Today for its stellar vistas. Definitely stop by during the hours of 6 pm to 8 pm to admire the gorgeous sunset as you sip on discounted cocktails like the Juvia Punch infused with passion fruit or the Juvia Mockingbird. The place also has a selection of bar bites to choose from.

Whisper Cocktail Lounge is located at the stylish W Miami on the 50th floor, so you already know the views will be stunning. Formerly known as Club Fifty, you can enjoy happy hour Wednesday through Saturday beginning at 5 pm until 8 pm. Ladies drink free on Wednesdays and Thursdays become a celebratory throwback to the 80s and 90s featuring games, music, and more.

Miami Beach Has a New Plan for Ocean Drive

Navigating around on Ocean Drive’s sidewalks can be a tricky process, especially on the weekends when activity is typically high with pedestrians. To try and alleviate some of the “congestion”, Miami Beach is launching a new experimental initiative of sorts aimed at making South Beach’s perennially popular thoroughfare a little more pedestrian friendly.

Beginning the first weekend of September, Miami Beach intends to block off a single traffic lane so pedestrians can safely utilize it. The initiative will essentially expand the sidewalk by five feet which should make it easier to navigate as well as improving safety. This new experiment will remain in effect throughout the rest of the month. The way it will work is Ocean Drive will become a one-way southbound lane extending from Fifth to 11th Street. For those wondering about the fewer street parking spots, the city is encouraging drivers to take advantage of the municipal garages located at Seventh, 13th and 16th streets.

For those who may be concerned about these changes, it’s worth emphasizing that this new experiment will only be happening during the weekends. The one exception is Labor Day weekend where Ocean Drive’s one-way lane will remain in effect until the early morning hours on Tuesday.

Miami Beach’s Best Labor Day Parties

Labor Day is just around the corner, and like every other holiday, Miami celebrates it in style. With most people enjoying a long weekend, there are plenty of parties and celebrations going on. Let’s check out some of the highlights.

Ora Nightclub in Miami Beach has quickly emerged as one of Miami’s best new music venues, according to the New Times. The massive 9,000+ square foot club has already played host to several famous names and next Friday, Dutch DJ and producer Nicky Romero will be kicking off the celebration. The party begins at 11 pm and tickets cost a mere $30.

Hyde Beach at the SLS Hotel has developed a reputation for its legendary pool parties. Musical act Damaged Goods will be spinning tunes as guests stay cool on Sunday, September 3. Don’t forget to snap a selfie with the famous duck statue before you leave!

The South Beach bar Foxhole remains something of a well-kept secret. On Sunday, September 3 it will kick off its annual party featuring music by DJs Tony G and Rascal as well as serving drinks for half off. Enjoy the music while you party it up and enjoy the amenities like the arcade, pool table, and large, spacious booths.

The Future of Ocean Terrace

After extensive planning that took over a year, the official plans are finally underway in redeveloping a stretch of beachfront properties located along Miami Beach’s northern shore, a stretch also known as Ocean Terrace.

The vision for the new Ocean Terrace will involve restoring the various classic facades that are found throughout the street that neighbors the sea. There are also plans to build a residential tower comprised of 58 rooms set back from Ocean Terrace as well as Collins Avenue. Additional historical restoration is also in store for a pair of hotels that would connect to create a single 76 room operation. Furthermore, there are plans that also call for more than 15,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space on Ocean Terrace’s ground floor.

Ocean Terrace has earned a reputation as something of a quieter counterpart to its always active cousin Ocean Drive in South Beach. The plans are part of a longtime effort to revitalize the relatively sleepy North Beach area.

Are you someone who likes to visit the North Beach area or walk through Ocean Terrace? If so, how do you feel about these plans to breathe new life into the area? Feel free to share in the comments.

Miami Beach Real Estate Searches See a Strong Spike

Earlier this month, Google searches for Miami Beach real estate soared by more than thirty percent. The news is not entirely surprising considering how popular the city of Miami Beach is for tourists and people who live in the city seasonally. The South Beach area is full of opportunities for anyone who wants to call the barrier island their home or happens to be looking for an ideal summer getaway.

There are currently over forty unique sale listings in the Continuum. One of these listings is Unit #1002, a three bedroom and bathroom residence with nearly 2,000 square feet of living area. Unit #1002 is a contemporary oceanfront masterpiece boasting incredible décor courtesy of Christopher Raessler of RGR Design Associates. The spacious balcony provides a direct view of the Atlantic Ocean while the rest of the unit showcases elegant features such as antique marble flooring, a private foyer entrance, and more.

As for the Continuum itself, it boasts over eleven acres of luxury and it includes amenities like a pool and beach service, three tennis courts, concierge, valet, and a restaurant, to name a few. Both Continuum buildings are within walking distance to the beach plus South Beach’s numerous hotspots.

Miami Beach Welcomes Artichoke Basille’s Pizza

Have you ever heard of Artichoke Basille’s Pizza? It may sound unfamiliar to Miami Beach residents, but in New York, it’s a different story. The eatery has earned something of a legendary status in The Big Apple, with people standing line until 3 am to grab one of the slices at this feverishly popular place.

And now, the legend will make its debut right here in Miami Beach.

Artichoke Basille’s Pizza is scheduled to open its doors at Ricky’s South Beach on 16th Street towards the end of the month. The eatery is the brainchild of cousins and best friends Sal Basille and Francis Garcia, opening in 2008. After joining forces with a pair of individuals well-versed in the club industry, Artichoke expanded rapidly and now has ten locations throughout New York City. It has been featured on numerous food-related shows and has gained a loyal following. Famous names like guitarist, singer, and songwriter Keith Richards have become major fans.

Besides pizza, Artichoke Basille’s also sells calzones, salads, homemade bread sticks, and more. If the popularity of its New York location is any indication, you can expect a major turnout when it makes its debut later this month. Make sure to get in line early!
