Check out These Miami Summer Concerts

The summer season has become synonymous with concerts, and South Floridians will be happy to know that it’s going to be another active season. Without further ado, let’s explore some of the concerts you can look forward to.

Perfect Trip: Miami Psych Fest kicked off its first annual show last year and it will be returning for the second go-round on the 22^nd. The two-day festival is expanding this year with more than 35 local performers playing music on two different stages. Admission is free at Floyd from 4:20 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. or $20 per day at The Ground.

Before his fame skyrocketed as a member of Gnarls Barkley, his 2010 hit “Forget You”, and his time as a coach on The Voice, singer and rapper Cee-Lo Green was a member of Southern hip-hop group Goodie Mob. The group released five albums, the most recent being Age Against the Machine released in 2013. The original members will be coming to the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday June 16^th performing plenty of their classic hits.

The Wu-Tang Clan is considered one of the most influential rap groups, and several of its members have gone on to establish critically-acclaimed solo careers. One of these members, GZA will be performing at Churchill’s Pub next month on the 7^th, joined by DJ Heron.

Have a Cheap Drink on South Beach

Do keep in mind, however, that the bar only accepts cash so you may be out of luck if you plan on using plastic.

The Scape Goat on Collins Avenue also has domestic bottles for just five dollars as well as tall-body cans that start at the same price. If you happen to work in the service industry you can enjoy beer and Jameson shots for just three dollars. Regardless of what time you visit, the drinks are always low-priced.

Those that like to play table sports will find much to love at Lost Weekend on Española Way. Foosball, pool tables, all of these and more accompany the domestic drafts available for just five dollars. Well drinks are only two dollars more.

Phil Collins Returns to the Stage

With venerable hits like “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)” and “In the Air Tonight” still being played on the radio to this day, English singer-songwriter and drummer Phil Collins is one of the most instantly recognizable voices in music today. A former member of the successful band and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Genesis, Collins has an illustrious career which also includes eight Grammy Awards, a pair of Golden Globe Awards, and an Academy Award.

After years of living in semi-retirement, Phil Collins is returning to the stage and he will be bringing his musical talents to South Florida’s BB&T Center on Friday, October 5^th. The performance will mark the beginning of his North American tour, his first in more than eleven years. Collins—who is also a Miami Beach resident—will be touring with several of his longtime musical collaborators including guitarist Daryl Stuermer who toured with Collins during his time as a member of Genesis. Collins will also be joined by his teenage son Nicolas, who will be performing on drums.

Phil Collins has not released an album of original material since his 2002 album, Testify. His most recent release is the 60s Motown and Soul standards album Going Back, released in 2010.
