Miami Beach is known all over the world for it’s exciting but relaxing tropical living, and the beautiful beaches found here have inspired many in their personal style concepts. Miami Beach itself has also evolved into creating a space for its own local fashion scene, here you will find many annual fashion events such as Miami Fashion Week, Funkshion Fashion Week Miami Beach, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim and Art Basel. These fashion events and more are becoming as internationally recognized as Miami Beach itself. Here we look at some of the fashion events that are supporting the growth of Miami Beach’s fashion scene.

Miami Fashion Week

Every March, Miami Beach is treated to Miami Fashion Week, taking place at Miami Beach Convention center. This annual event has grown to become an institution in international trendsetting, influencing much more in fashion than just the expected swimwear category. Miami Fashion Week is the longest running fashion week in this region and it gives a platform to an amazing number of Caribbean and Latin American designs in evening wear, denim, jewlery, and children’s apparel. Also, this fashion week features a wedding pavilion, which has proven to be a very important resource for brides-to-be and bridal buyers. This fashion week, gives Miami’s take on fashion, which is inclusive and international as is Miami Beach.

Funkshion Fashion Week Miami Beach

Across the street from the Miami Fashion Week Shows, you will find Funkshion Fashion Week, which is a four-day event that combines the artistry of music and fashion for energy filled and edgy shows. What’s special about this event is that it includes the work of emerging designers, who are the next generation of fashion and style creators, as well as featuring established labels like Chloé, who use the event to show a secondary collection that is more accessible and moderately priced. Also, the designers hose which DJs they will use in their shows, and the music often reflects the countries of origin of the designers. This show is fashion at it’s most accessible, as it is free and open to the public.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

For the summer, the biggest fashion event is Mercedes-Benz Fashion week, which has gained influence in showcasing the beach trends for the year to come and when it comes to beach fashion, Miami Beach is the place. This fashion week is known for premiering accessible brands like BCBG Max Azria, and Mara Hoffman, as well as features collections making a debut. This show, is an international beach affair.
