Miami Spice Returns

Those of you that are foodies, listen up! Miami Spice is back in full swing this month, offering South Floridians a smorgasbord of different dishes to try at a reduced cost. For just $23 or $39, you can sample a great lunch or dinner meal, respectively.

In case you’ve never experienced Miami Spice, the annual event is aimed at encouraging locals and visitors to try some new places and enjoy the old favorites through discounted three-course meals offered at more than 200 eateries. The event is also crucial in helping some restaurants survive during the summer slump when patrons decide to find cooler climates.

The 2017 version of Miami Spice brings some new developments. For the first time in its history, patrons will now have the option of a weekend brunch menu for the same $23 price. Among the participating restaurants are Bakehouse Brasserie and Dragonfly Izakaya & Fish Market. This year also brings some fresh faces such as Brava by Brad Kilgore, Pubbelly Noodle Bar, Artisan Beach House, and more.

Miami Spice will stick around until the end of September. If you wish to see the full of participating restaurants, visit www.ilovemiamispice.com. If you’re a longtime participant, what are some of your favorite places?

Miami Beach has no shortage of places to eat, but sometimes you want to be adventurous and try something new. Thankfully, there is always a new opening going on somewhere in the city. Let’s explore some of the recent highlights.

Late last month, Amsterdam Falafel Shop opened its doors on Washington Avenue. The eatery is the first of its kind to debut in South Beach and originally comes from Washington D.C. Guests can enjoy food items such as falafel pitas, bowls with numerous toppings, Dutch-style fries, and much more.

For those that prefer something that’s vegetarian friendly, Soul Tavern on West Avenue also opened last month. It is a vegetarian gastropub boasting typical choices such as fries, burgers, and pizza, albeit with the peace of mind knowing it’s all free of meat.

Earlier in June, Las Vegas-based Mercato Della Pescheria opened a second location, this one located on Española Way. Among its distinctive features are the various stations that each have a different type of food, all centered around traditional Italian cuisine.
